In those days, even though there was a Sikh king ruling Punjab (Ranjit Singh), the style of architecture was essentially Mughal. This is because Punjab was the door to invaders. And they [the invaders] always left a piece of themselves behind. Sappel got his props, costumes and materials from Punjab. He says, "In those days, clothes were named after actresses. Like Suraiya ki kapda!"
Sappel has also designed the costumes and hairstyles for the cast in Pinjar.
