Most exciting MUV, SUV facelifts
Last year, when the auto industry witnessed a slowdown, utility vehicle segment defied the trend. This segment (Includes SUVs and MUVs) posted 62 per cent yearly growth, establishing a new trend in the motown.
It felt as if buyers suddenly discovered that utility vehicles are perfect family cars owning to their functionality, safety, road presence, powerful engines and, most importantly, passenger carrying capacity.
The share of utility vehicles in the passenger vehicle space in 2005-06 stood at 15 per cent, this has grown to 20 per cent in 2012. Presently every fifth vehicle sold in India is a utility vehicle.
Realising the changing preference of the consumers, automakers not only introduced new vehicles in the segment but also gave facelifts to their popular models.
