South China Mall.
1. South China Mall

China has some of the world's biggest malls. Opened in 2005, South China Mall in Donguan is the world's largest mall.

The mall has seven zones modelled on international cities, nations and regions, including Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Venice, Egypt, the Caribbean, and California.

However, much of the retail space remains vacant.

Gross leasable area: 6.46 million sq ft.
Total area: 9.58 million sq ft.

Golden Resources Mall.

2. Golden Resources Mall

The Golden Resources Mall in Bejing is the world's second largest mall.

Also known as 'Great Mall of China', it was the world's largest shopping mall during 2004-2005.

The mall has 230 escalators, more than 1,000 shops and a huge space for restaurants. It also has a skating rink.

Gross leasable area: (6 million sq ft.
Total area: 7.3 million sq ft.

3. The Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is the world's largest mall in terms of total area. It set a record on November 4, 2008, opening with about 600 retailers.

A skating rink, water world, gold souk makes shopping a great experience.

4. West Edmonton Mall

West Edmonton Mall, in Canada, is the largest shopping mall in North America. It was the world's largest mall for two decades from 1981 till 2004.

The mall receives 28.2 million visitors per year.

Total area:  5.3 million sq ft.

5. Istanbul Cevahir

The Istanbul Cevahir shopping and entertainment centre, opened on October 15, 2005 in Istanbul, Turkey, is the largest shopping centre in Europe.

There are 343 shops and around 50 restaurants. Besides 12 cinemas, including a private theatre, it has a bowling hall, a small roller coaster; and and glass roof carries the second biggest clock in the world.

Total area: 4.52 million sq ft.

6. Berjaya Times Square

Berjaya Times Square, a twin tower complex, houses a shopping centre and two five star hotels. Located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, it was opened in October 2003. The 48-storeyed bulling stands at a height of 666 ft high.

Shopping, luxury accommodation, business, food and entertainment are its highlights. It also houses Asia's largest indoor theme park, Cosmo's World and Malaysia's first-ever IMAX 2D & 3D theatre.

The building houses a hotel and an office tower.
