Force Motors until recently was synonymous with commercial vehicle manufacturing and three-wheeler manufacturing only.

It was founded by Shri NK Firodia in 1958 in collaboration with German auto manufacturers, Vidal & Sohn to introduce the Tempo three-wheelers in India by importing them.

Force Motors that was known as Firodia Motors back then, entered into a joint venture with Bajaj Auto to form Bajaj Tempo Ltd.

Going forward, after seven years down the line, Firodia Motors signed a treaty with Vidal & Sohn Tempo Werke GmbH to start a manufacturing plant for Tempo three-wheelers at Goregaon, Mumbai.

With the merger of German manufacturers with Daimler Chrysler AG (DCAG), the latter had subsequently become a financial collaborator of Bajaj Tempo Ltd.

However, Bajaj Tempo Ltd had undergone a name change to Force Motors on DCAG's suggestion in 2005.

Force Motors currently offers Force Trax Gurkha 4WD, Force Trax Cruiser, Force Trax Kargo-King, Force Traveller Luxury, Force Traveller Delivery Van, Force Traveller Ambulance, Force Trump 15 and Force Balwan tractors.

Force Motors marked its entrance into the Passenger Vehicle segment by introducing Force One SUV in August this year.

They also signed on Amitabh Bachchan as the brand Ambassador for the Force One SUV.

Launch of Force One

The Force One SUV was launched as a single variant powered by a 2.2 litre, common rail diesel engine, a version of OM611, a Daimler AG engine that drives the Mercedes-Benz car, which is capable of churning out 140Bhp maximum power and 321 Nm of maximum torque.

Equipped with a Daimler Engine and suspension, tuned by UK based firm called the Lotus Engineering, the Force One SUV is incorporated with state-of-art technology to rope in the customers into attraction.

The Force One SUV will be launched in two more variants in 2012.

The macho looking SUV has now hit the Indian roads to compete against Tata Aria, Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio with its competitive price tag of Rs 10.65 lakh to mark it as an entry-level SUV.

Force One SUV Vs Tata Aria

Force One SUV takes on the Tata Aria as a potential rival with both being in the SUV segment.

Tata Motors is India's largest automobile manufacturers that are leaders in manufacturing the commercial vehicles and are counted among top three in passenger vehicle manufacturing.

Tata Aria is slightly priced higher than the Force One SUV, with the former priced at Rs 11.61 through Rs 14.21 lakh based on the ex-showroom price of Delhi.

Tata Aria is available in both 4x4 and 4x2 versions in the market. The Tata Aria is packed with a 2.2 Liter 140 Bhp.

Direct Injection Common Rail Engine generating a maximum torque of 320 Nm, which is more or less same on the engine ground. The current Force One SUV is not deployed with ABS and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), which the Tata Aria boasts of.

On the mileage front, the Force One SUV claims to provide a mileage of 14.0 kmpl on the city roads, while on the highways it records mileage of 17km/l.

The Tata Aria offers an all-wheel drive option, which is not available in the Force One SUV currently.

The Force One SUV is launched in 4x2 version at present and has plans to launch the 4x4 version in 2012 and the variant with ABS and airbags in future.

Force One Vs Mahindra's Scorpio

Mahindra Scorpio is the pride of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), a Mumbai based auto company, whose history goes back to 1945.

M&M, which is a leader in utility vehicle system, had introduced its mighty muscular Mahindra Scorpio in four diesel variants.

Mahindra and Mahindra is an established player in the Indian auto market. The Scorpio also houses a 2.2 L mHawk CRDI diesel engine affixed with a five-speed manual gearbox similar to that of Force One SUV.

However, the top variant of the Mahindra Scorpio comes deployed with an automatic gearbox, which is not yet offered in Force One SUV.

The Mahindra Scorpio comes with the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) in the top two variants out of the three, i.e. the Mahindra Scorpio SLE and Mahindra Scorpio VLX, with the airbags as an additional enticement in the Mahindra Scorpio VLX.

However, the Force One SUV has the AC vents in all three rows, as a key feature that is incorporated in the latest entrant into the SUV segment Force One SUV.

Mahindra Scorpio gives an average mileage of 10.5 km/l on city roads and 15.4 km/l on the highways.

Force One Vs Ford Endeavour

Ford Motors, the American auto makers had launched its Ford Endeavour SUV in three variants in the range of Rs 17.70 lakhs - Rs 20.50 lakhs placing it in the premium SUV segment.

The Ford Endeavour houses a 2.5 liter TDCi engine, a bigger engine compared to the Force One engine.

The displacement of the Ford Endeavour SUV is also higher at 2499 cc that keeps the capacity to produce the maximum power output of 143 PS @ 3500 RPM and peak torque is also higher with 330 Nm @ 1800 rpm, both surpassing the corresponding parameters in the Force One SUV.

The Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors had launched its Tata Sumo Grande MUV in seven variants, with the Tata Sumo Grande MKII GX BS IV, the high-end variant to compete against Force One SUV in the Indian car market.

The Tata Sumo Grande MKII GX BS IV price is around Rs 8.38 lakhs, placing the Force One SUV a notch higher with respect to the price.

With the same engine size, the Sumo Grande MKII GX BS IV is powered with a 2.2 L DiCOR engine to wring out a maximum power output of 118 Bhp at 4000 rpm that makes the Force one SUV more powerful with generating 140 Bhp of maximum power output.

The displacement of the Sumo Grande MKII GX BS IV is 2179 cc, slightly lower than the Force One SUV. The mileage offered by the Sumo Grande MKII GX BS IV is 10 kmpl on the urban roads and 14 kmpl on the highways.

Both the SUVs are deprived of the ABS. Rest of the other features however remains same on both the SUVs.

The Force One SUV is however, more majestic looking with longer size of the Force One SUV.
