The summer has set in with a vengeance. And even as the mercury heads north, carmakers in India plan to heat up the automobile sector further with the launch of some cool cars by June this year.

Let us start with our own homegrown Tata Motors. The Tatas have planned for a number of models to be launched this year. Tata Motors displayed its brand new MUV, Aria, at the Delhi Auto Expo in January this year and industry sources say that the car might be launched in April.

Aria is all set to compete with Toyota Innova and Ford Endeavour and is expected to be priced around Rs 12-14 lakh (Rs 1.2-1.4 million).

The car is expected to come with a 2.2L, DICOR (Direct Injection Common Rail) engine, the same that the Tata Safari sports. The engine produces 140 bhp power at 4,000 rpm with 320 Nm torque at 1,700-2,700 rpm.

Aria is expected to be launched in three variants and all variants will be available with both 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) and 2WD (Two Wheel Drive Option).
