The car will of course come with both petrol and diesel engine options, but it's anyone's guess as to which variant will have better sales.

Chevrolet Sail (sedan)

General Motors has disappointed a fair few with its announcement to postpone the launch of this entry-level sedan.

The Chevrolet Sail sedan was originally slated for December 2012 launch which was then postponed to early 2013.

Hyundai i10

In contrast to General Motors, Hyundai seems to be ahead of schedule for the launch of their diesel powered 2013 i10.

Originally intended for the second half of 2013, the Hyundai i10 diesel launch has been pre-poned and is now slated for the first quarter of 2013, possibly sometime around March.

Maruti Suzuki had brought in a limited edition Wagon-R in order to boost sales due to the fact that there is as yet no diesel option in the line-up.

While the Wagon-R is by no means doing bad in terms of sales, a diesel option will do wonders for this car.

A Wagon-R diesel is indeed on the cards and is expected to hit the market by mid-2013.

Rumour has it that MSI is planning to use Fiat's 1.0-litre diesel engine that is currently in the works and will offer a possible mileage of up to 25kmpl. Hyundai's i10 diesel will be its main competitor.
