New Volkswagen Beetle soon in India

The Bug, as it is lovingly called, is all set to be unveiled in a new avatar in Shanghai on April 18.

After which it will be the star attraction in New York and Berlin.

A release by Volkswagen defines the new Beetle as a reinterpretation of the silhouette of the original from which it borrows most of its design elements.

It is teamed with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Bug does 0 to 100kmph sprint in 11.2 seconds and touches the top speed mark of 180kmph.

Volkswagen has positioned the Beetle as a lifestyle model as part of its brand building exercise.

It retails with a price tag of Rs 21,34,385 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
