Land Rover reveals the fourth generation Range Rover

efore its public unveiling at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, Land Rover took the wraps off the next generation Range Rover last week.

After the success of the radically different Evoque, Land Rover is filtering some of those styling cues to their flagship model as well.

The all-new Range Rover ditches the body-on-frame chassis for an all-aluminium monocoque construction which, along with the new aluminium subframes at the front and back, help the new car shed up to a whopping 420 kg over the outgoing model, depending on engine and specs!

With a diet like that, the new Range Rover should prove to be a much more efficient machine than the outgoing one.

Don't think that this move takes away from its legendary off-roading prowess though, because the new Range Rover will come with a fully automatic Terrain Response 2 system and completely independent four corner air suspension, which make sure it can tackle just about anything you throw at it.

The system can detect the kind of terrain you're on and adjust the power distribution accordingly, to keep you moving along.

The interiors see a revamp too, with a new multimedia set-up and the circular gearshift from the Evoque making its way here as well. Being a Range Rover, materials and quality of fittings should be top-notch too.

And for those of you that thought the rear quarters of the outgoing Rangie were a little cramped, this new one offers 120 mm of extra rear seat legroom over the outgoing model.

Plus, there's also the option of two-place rear seating, which deletes the middle seat in favour of two very comfortable seats and one huge armrest.

There are no exact details about engine options, but chances are that the entire engine lineup might get a slight boost in power.

In addition to that, they will all come mated to a new 8-speed ZF automatic transmission to further increase the fuel efficiency. Here's to the beginning of a new era for the Rangie!
