July 26, 2013 12:15 IST

Force Motors has been working on a bare bones variant and a new top-end variant of the Force One SUV.

The new variants of the Force One have been introduced without much fanfare. To start with, the default trim level of the One which was available so far is named as the SX. The SX variant is sandwiched by the base EX and the top end LX.

The entry-level EX variant is powered by a 2.6-litre BS3 diesel engine which puts out a modest 82 PS and 230 Nm of torque.

We feel the entry-level variant will be a tad underpowered. The SX and LX employ the Mercedes derived 2.2-litre FMTECH diesel motor, which generates 141PS and 321 Nm of torque.

Further the base EX variant sacrifices lots of features like LED DRLs, alloy wheels, roof rails, rear wash/wipe, defogger, audio system, driver seat height adjustment, remote central locking, reverse parking sensor, ABS and cruise control. All these features are available in the SX and the LX variants.
