According to media reports Mercedes is planning to bring cars with the front-wheel-drive format to the country.

The platform is known as the Mercedes Front Wheel Drive Architecture (MFA) and would include cars with alternative powertrains.

Apart from the A- and B- categories the company would consider bringing saloons, mini-SUVs and sports SLA to the Indian market.

On the alternate energy front Mercedes has strategic partners like Renault and Nissan that will play a major role in developing the alternate energy powered vehicles by Mercedes like the hybrids and electric vehicles.
