If you think Hummer would have scored as the longest SUV, then here’s a surprise: It does not even feature in the top 5.

To understand the size of these big brawny SUVs, comparing the length with the home grown brands might help. Mahindra Scorpio measures 4.49 metres in length whereas Tata Safari is 4.65 metres.

Hummer H2 had two versions - a sports utility vehicle and a sports utility truck. The vehicle was markets as a general purpose as well as an off-raoder.

Th standard features of the vehicle included air conditioning with tri-zone climate controls, leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, 8-way power front seats, dual memory system, BOSE premium sound system, independent front and rear suspension specially created for the H2, and oversized tires with HUMMER rims.

The vehicle is no longer in production and the future of the brand remains uncertain.

The Chevrolet Traverse is a seven or eight seat, full-size crossover SUV built on the GM Lambda platform. It is a successor to both the Uplander and TrailBlazer.

The recent traverse is based on the 2013 model. For the 2013 facelift, the company added a new grill and front fascia, a redesigned rear liftgate, and reworked Camaro-inspired tail lights.

The 2014 Traverse only received additional features such as Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.

When introduced in 1996, the QX4 was Infiniti's first entry into the SUV market segment. And while it was sold as Infiniti QX56 in the North American markets, in Japan the company sold it as Nissan Terrano Regulus.

Lincoln is the luxury division of the Ford Motor Company and it forayed into the SUV segment with the Navigator in 1997.

The SUV has a lot common with Ford Expedition. They share a common platform, mechanical features, and other equipments.

What sets Navigator apart from Expedition are upscale styling, interior materials, and host of luxury features it offers.

As of 2013, Lincoln opted not to offer a 2014 Navigator as it plans to redesign the vehicle, which will be different from the Expedition. The next-generation Navigator is expected to be updated in 2014 as a 2015 model, according to Wikipedia.

When it was launched, it was described as the biggest SUV on the planet.

Ford had to stop manufacturing the truck in 2005 as sales declined after fuel price started rising.

The last Excursion was produced on September 30, 2005, at Ford's Louisville plant.
