Zee Turner to take channels off Hathway

February 10, 2010 10:07 IST

Zee TurnerZee Turner, TV channel distribution joint venture between the Turner Group and the Essel Group, has said it would stop Hathway Datacomm from airing 33 channels, since Hathway had defaulted on its payments to air these.

The payment is overdue for the past 10 months, says Zee Turner.

'As per the prescribed law, Hathway is to sign its agreements with Zee Turner for availing services of the 33 channels on expiry of the previous one', their statement said.

Most of these agreements expired in March 2009 and ever since, Hathway has not come forward to sign the agreements.

Zee Turner also said that in the Red Herring Prospectus filed with authorities, Hathway has mentioned its total subscribers to be nearly two million (while advertising that they had eight million subscribers), whereas they declared only about 400,000, thus concealing a large portion of their subscriber base.
