The partnership aims at $1 billion revenue over the next three years, said John Chambers, chairman and CEO of the $35 billion California-based company.
Wipro, a gold-certified partner of Cisco, will build solutions and services using Cisco's networking solutions as platform.
According to the pact, Suresh Vaswani, the president of Wipro Infotech, will be the executive sponsor. He will co-ordinate the businesses of the two companies. Wim Elfrink, the chief globalisation officer of Cisco, will be the executive sponsor on behalf of Cisco.
Suresh Vaswani said the company had extended the ties with Cisco with focus on emerging markets. "India and West Asia are two strategic markets," he added.
Both the companies will make joint investments for software frameworks and infrastructure frameworks.
"We have focused on certain markets and certain customers. We have also selected certain technology and certain service lines as thrust areas," added Vaswani.
Though the company was not willing to divulge the details of revenue-sharing, sources said Cisco would take the product revenue, whereas the services revenue would go to Wipro.
Besides, Wipro is to open a Cisco Solution Centre in its Bangalore campus, which will develop and showcase new services and solutions such as unified communications.
Apart from Cisco, Wipro has deals with Microsoft, EMC, SAP and Oracle. Wipro is one of the top 10 partners of Microsoft.
