February 19, 2004 14:45 IST

Wipro Infotech on Thursday launched a new SuperGenius range of desktops based on Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading on high-volume 90-Nanometer manufacturing technology.

Intel Pentium 4 processors built on the 90-nm process retain the multi-tasking capabilities of HT technology, and include new features such as enhanced Intel NetBurst micro architecture, a larger, 1 MB Level 2 (L2) cache and 13 new instructions, the world's largest chip major said.

Wipro Infotech, a division of the $902 million Wipro Limited, is the first OEM in India to market desktops based on Intel's latest processor, its general manager (personal computing products), Anil K Jain, told reporters in Bangalore.

G B Kumar, Intel's director (sales, South Asia), said the processor is among the six new offerings in Intel's line of desktop chips, bringing new features and high performance to a wide range of PC users, from mainstream consumers and businesspeople to gaming enthusiasts and computer power users.

Intel's 90 nm (a nanometer is one-billionth of a meter) process technology is the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing process in the industry, it was noted.
