Vascon Engineers, a real estate firm, plans to set up a second software park in Pune in a joint venture with Weikfield.

The Rs 60-crore (Rs 600 million) company also announced the completion of   Marisoft Software Park, a joint venture with Manisha Constructions.

This  Rs 48-crore (Rs 480 million) project is the first software park in Pune. It  has been booked by infotech companies such as PTC, Tata Teleservices, Nucleus Software and MsourcE.

R Vasudevan, chairman and managing director, Vascon Engineers, said: the Marisoft park has been completed in record time.

On the second project, Vasudevan said: "The park will be apt for a wide range of technology companies, given its strategic location (it is  close  to the airport) and its architecture. I am confident that we will be able to repeat the Marisoft success story again."

The 13-acre Weikfield IT-Citi Infopark, which is bigger than Marisoft, will be set up at the Weikfield estate on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway with an investment of Rs 100 crore (Rs billion). The project is expected to be completed in three phases in three years.

Facilities  such as fibre optic connectivity, extensive underground and surface level parking, 100 per cent power back-up and 50,000 square feet  of service apartments  at the rear side are also being planned. The park will also have shopping malls, food courts, health centres and a gymnasium.

B R Malhotra, vice-chairman, Weikfield Group, said: "To meet the increasing demand from international infotech, biotechnology and IT-enabled service companies, we thought of venturing into this software park project. We setup a joint venture with Vascon because of  its track record in executing such projects."

The six-laning of the Pune Ahmednagar highway and the new approach road from the Ramwadi octroi post to the  Pune airport make access to this location very convenient.

Vascon had recently bagged an order from Zensar Technologies to construct a new facility at the Khaardi  MIDC  area near Pune.

The Vascon group also  recently secured ISO certification from DNV, Asia's largest certifying organisation .
