120 truck tracking booths by year-end

June 14, 2005 16:07 IST
Truck tracking solutions and services provider truckkhoj.com on Tuesday said it would expand its physical network across the country by this year end to improve its service of tracking vehicle movement.

"We plan to have 120 truck tracking booths by the end of this year from the present 88 booths," truckkhoj.com director Ramandeep Singh said.

"We are targeting to increase the number of trucks using the system to 15,000 from the present 7,000 by the end of the year," he said.

The company's tracking system enables truck operators or merchants to help find where the vehicle is through data transferred electronically by truck drivers at the company's truck booths on highways.

The system has been accepted well by the transport industry, he said, however, declining to disclose the investments the company planned for the network expansion.

"Our services are already available in the north and south, we are expanding in the west and by the end of the year expect to reach the eastern region," Singh said. truckkhoj.com is also planning to come up with 'truck city' on important highways to provide all the requisite facilities for truck drivers during highway travel, he said.

"Starting from the third quarter of this fiscal we would come up with the truck city in collaboration with other service partners," Singh said, without disclosing the investments for the purpose.
