Great stocks for the short & long term

Where is the stock market going? Will it rise further? Or will it crash again? What should a small investor do in such a scenario? Should he hold on to his stocks or sell them? Should he buy stocks now or stay away from the market?

In an hour-long chat on rediff.com on Tuesday, stock market expert Madhusudan N Sarda answered readers' queries. Here is the transcript:

Madhusudan Sarda answers,  at 2007-08-07 16:03:51Margins of the IT co's are directly affected by appreciating rupee. in the short term further Appreciation can not be ruled out.one can expect some more downside.
ms asked, Which sectors are expected to perform well in the coming year ?
Madhusudan Sarda answers, Power, telecom and Infrastructure stocks are expected to perform well
rohit asked, how is KPR IPO
Madhusudan Sarda answers, According to us this issue seems to be expensive, aslo it is catering to low volume European markets. Issue proceeds to be used for capacity buildup which is expected to add to the revenues after FY 09
ms asked, Can I enter SBI at these levels ?
Madhusudan Sarda answers, PSU stock look good as per the valuations recent infusion of funds by Govt would help SBI to meet Basel II requirement with out any dilution of Equity
