February 07, 2007 13:38 IST
PRANAV SANGHAVI says, Good afternoon everyone. Let's begin the chat.

rach asked, hello sir, what is PE ratio how you calculate it and for day trading calculation of resistence and support level is useful or not
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Hello, basically PE ratio is the price of the company divided by the EPS of the company. If the PE ratio is below the Index average then it could signal a buy and vice versa.
praveen asked, whether we can see a huge correction post budget
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, The market has run up substantially. So a correction could not be ruled out. When is the question and how much. Although I do not feel it will correct very drastically.
Alwa asked, What is your take on mid cap stocks. Most of them are still languishing
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, The quality midcap stocks have already started moving up. In the May correction last year the midcap stocks were the worst hit. So it will take some time before they spurce up as the frontline stocks themselves are giving such handsome returns to investors.
malcolm asked, Hi. and good morning.
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Hi Malcolm and good afternoon to you too.
rach asked, pls suggest some good books on stock market (including day trading)
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, There are tons of books one could study. The Intelligent Investor by Ben Graham is a good one amongst others.
gssharma asked, mr sanghavi,do you think there will be some correction expected tomorrow or day after I want to buy good shares .Tell me which ones ppl
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, It is a good idea to wait for the correction to get in as the market seems to be heated. But predicting when the correction will come is not possible.
malcolm asked, Iam a long term investor. Should I wait now for a correction which is overdue before the budget or should I buy some stock. Pls. suggest if yes which stocks..a couple of them.
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Yes it would be wise to wait for the correction. You could look at the quality frontline stocks in the cement, tech, infrastructure, banking sectors.
Raj asked, Hi Sir, I want to open a Dmat account. So from which bank/financial company should i open it.Which of them is the best.
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, The best would be where you hold you savings account or your broker whom you deal with if he is a DP.
malcolm asked, How can I buy shares in international markets. what is the procedure and who to contact...
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, A resident Indian is allowed an outflow of up to US$ 25,000 per calendar year by RBI. You will need to contact brokers like Geojit and First Global who could help you.
malcolm asked, Iam interested in commodity trading. How can I make a begining.. what is the procedure. Pls. advice.
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Similar to opening a stock trading account you will have to open a Commodity trading account.
petro asked, Would you say Reliance Petroleum is a safe "double your money in 4 years" bet?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Well safe bet for four years yes but double your money I won't know.

madhavi asked, I want to buy some shares which give me profits in short span and I have shares of reliance petro 120 nos what to do for that?what about kpisys?should I sell thermax
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, You could look at frontline tech stocks but buy them on correction to give you profits in a short span. RPL will give you handsome returns only after 2010. Thermax is a hold according to me.
raju asked, Hellow sir, What is your openion about godrej industries. siya asked, what is your view about mind tree IPO?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, It is a good IPO to look at. They have some good plans for the future.
P-Dinesh asked, Why has Tata Steel price gone down after takover? Is it wise to buy Tata Steel at current levels? I want to stay invested for 6 months.
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Normally world over because of the notional burden that comes with an acquisition of a much larger company the acquiring company always moves downwards. On a long term basis TISCO should do well but in the short term it may not give you the returns you may be expecting.
siya asked, Hi, why parsvnath price day by day down?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, It could be rationalising the price or in a corrective or consolidative mode.
meghanadhudu asked, I purchase 400 balrampur chinni on 120/- what about this script please tell me
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, It is surely a frontrunner in the sugar stocks. Of all of them I think this one could be looked at. Although the sugar sector as a whole may not outbeat the markets over the next few quarters.

Manju asked, hi, I am planning to invest in SBI MF.Is this the right time to invest in mutual funds considering the fact that sensex is at its peak ?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, It is always wiser to buy into a fund at a correction. That way the NAV will be much lower than with the SENSEX at its peak.
dharma asked, i would like to do research in technical analysis. stock market volatility study based on technical analysis is my topic kindly advice me
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, I would suggest you take up the courses offered by the training institutes of NSE and BSE. Then you would need to procure a technical analysys or charting software easily available in the market. Also you would need a live feed of

PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Although Suzlon is a good play in the power sector I would enter on a correction. The company has made some acquisitions overseas which will improve its performance and bottomline next year.
aa001 asked, Hi Pranav... What do you think will Sensex touch first... 15K or 13K? With P/E at 21, whats your outlook of the market in the short/ medium term?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, A correction is due. The markets may come close to 15K before correcting. But may not correct all the way to 13K.

aa001 asked, And secondly, could you also comment on the outlook of debt market in India?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Currently we could be in a rising interest rate regime for a while so the Bond markets would depend on the rate at which the government increases the rate and upto what rate. But the volumes have been dwindling ever since the downward spiral of the rates stopped.
Devdatt asked, Shall we hold Cairn India?and what is the expected target of Sesa Goa?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, There are a lot of players looking at the controlling stake of Sesa Goa. They are sitting on large reserves of coal which is very attractive for the large steel manufactureres. What rate they would be ready to pay for Sesa one has to wiat and watch. Cairn you could switch to a growth stock.
bhat asked, i have 200 ivrcl share bought at much lower rates if i hold them will they grow further pls tell me

PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Some stocks are still not dematerialised by the COmpanies and therefore trade in the Z category of BSE. You oculd sell the same through your broker.
Muthiah asked, Was the TATA CORUS steel not at its best? Is it because of this reason TATASTEEL is pulling down. Will it go down below 400? I mean is it heading for a major correction?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, I answered a similar query earlier in this chat, please scroll back.

PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, If you are a long term player you could hold on.
ManojGarg asked, Why is that despite market at highest levels Varun Shipping is a laggard?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, It is not a frontline shipping stock and has not performed as per market expectations. Although they have made a few ship acquisitions over the last couple of years which should reap revenues in the coming years.
varda asked, Hi...is the sensex bullrun for real?I am waiting for some correction to happen so that I can invest some money. Any idea when is it likely to happen?
PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, I think our markets are in a bull run which should last for the next 2 to 3 years most factors remaining constant. But timely corrections are a part and parcel of the game. A correction is due any time now.
