Raju's bail petition hearing on Oct 8

B Ramalinga RajuThe bail petition filed by former chairman of Satyam Computers B Ramalinga Raju, who is recuperating in Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, would come up for hearing in IV additional metropolitan sessions court on October 8.

Raju, accused in Rs 7,800 crore (Rs 78 billion) Satyam fraud case, is presently undergoing treatment for his heart and Hepatitis-C ailments in NIMS hospital. He has filed a petition in the court seeking his release on health ground.

As both sides, prosecution and defence, sought time, the sessions judge on Monday adjourned case to October 8.

Bharat Kumar, counsel for Ramalinga Raju, urged the court to grant the bail to his client on health ground and also to enable him to defend himself in various cases slapped against him by various investigating agencies including Securities and Exchange Board of India, Serious Fraud Investigation Office, Enforcement Directorate.

Ramalinga Raju was brought from Chanchalguda jail and admitted with chest pain in the hospital on September 7. Later, he underwent an angioplasty for clearing two blocks in two heart vessels on September,15.
