Samsung launches Galaxy S5 Mini for Rs 26,499

Korean handset maker Samsung on Tuesday unveiled the successor to its flagship S5 smartphone -- Galaxy S5 Mini -- priced at Rs 26,499.

The handset will be available from Wednesday through e-commerce major Flipkart.

With a host of innovative features like water & dust resistance, ultra power saving mode and heart rate monitoring, the Galaxy S5 Mini delivers a powerful performance that truly enhances your lives, Samsung said in a statement.

"The Galaxy S5 Mini is the perfect combination of performance and power in a conveniently compact design.

“Effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the Galaxy S5 Mini empowers your life, helping take care of your well-being," Samsung India VP (Marketing - Mobile & IT) Asim Warsi said.

With a 4.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, the handset is powered by 1.4 GHz quad processor, 1.5GB RAM and 16GB ROM (expandable up to 64GB).

The Android KitKat operating system-based Galaxy S5 Mini also comes equipped with 8MP rear- facing camera and a 2.1 MP front camera.

Samsung Galaxy S5 MiniThe Galaxy S5, which was launched earlier this year, features a larger 5.1-inch screen and is currently available for about Rs 37,000.

According to research firm IDC, Samsung is the market leader in the Indian smartphone market with 29 per cent share.  

Smartphone sales in the India market, which is the fastest growing in Asia Pacific, rose 84 per cent to 18.42 million units in the April-June 2014 quarter from 10.02 million units (in Q2 2013 quarter).
