ITNasscom, the industry body of IT industry, has come with a proposal to train pre-final degree students in Andhra Pradesh to make them job-ready by the time they complete their graduation, according to Rajiv Udyogasri Society chief executive officer D Srinivasulu.

The BPO/KPO industry employs about 2.2 million people and the number would increase to 10 million by the end of 2020.

However, only about 10 per cent of the graduates are fit to join the industry directly and the remaining need some training.

The government has decided to train 30,000 students to begin with across six universities -- Osmania, Kakatiya,
Andhra, Visakhapatnam, Nagarjuna, Sri Venkateshwara and Sri Krishna Devaraya.

The training would aim at attracting students from rural areas and the cost of training per candidate -- about Rs 1,200 -- would be borne by RUS.

Students from rural areas would be again considered for training if they do not score sufficient marks in the first session.
