Home grown steel major, Tata Steel on Wednesday reported over six-fold per cent leap in its profit after tax at Rs 6,388 crore (Rs 63.88 billion) in the quarter ended on June 30, 2007 compared to Rs 1,014 crore (Rs 10.14 billion) in the same period last fiscal.
The turnover of the company also registered a jump of over five-fold at Rs 31,155 crore (RS 311.55 billion) in the first quarter of 2007-08 fiscal against Rs 5,748 crore (Rs 57.48 billion) during the same period previous fiscal.
The consolidated operating profit of the company also increased to Rs 4,904 crore (Rs 49.04 billion) during the first quarter FY'07-08 compared to Rs 1,712 crore (Rs 17.12 billion) in the corresponding period of previous year.
