Suzuki Motorcycle India is planning to open 100 dealer outlets across the country by the end of June this year.

Shigeru Matsuda, operation head (marketing and administration), SMIPL, said the company had identified 300 cities and towns in the country to set up dealer  outlets.

"We have an ambitious plan to open more than 400 dealer outlets in these towns. The project will be carried out in a phased manner," he said.

He said that there was a huge market potential for mobikes in the country and the company would be able to tap it efficiently and reach the target.

The company's manufacturing facility at Badshahpur near Gurgaon in Haryana, spread across an area of 37 acres, has a capacity to produce 10,000  vehicles per one shift in a month.

In order to increase its market share, the company was planning to raise the production capacity of the factory, he added.

He also said that Suzuki India would develop at least one new model every year to fulfil the requirement of the Indian market. At present, over 10 per cent of the final product, including the engine and other components, were imported from Japan.

The rest of the components were either produced or outsourced from vendors across the country, he said. However, he added that 100 per cent indigenous product development would take place soon.

While inaugurating Trichy Suzuki authorised dealership, promoted by Dinamalar Group, Matsuda said that a new dealerships would be opened at Salem and Erode soon.

He added that the disc brake system fitted to Suzuki  Zeus model will be replaced with drum brake system shortly.
