Internet infrastructure major Sun Microsystems in planning to ramp up its Bangalore development centre by adding another 200 professionals.
"We already are planning a modest expansion where further intake of 200 more professionals would take place very quickly to the current 500," Robert Youngjohns, executive vice-president, global sales operations, Sun Microsystems Inc told PTI on Thursday on the sidelines of a seminar organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry.
The centre is working on leading edge software products, enterprise software and Java enterprise systems.
When asked whether Sun would divert its high-end R&D work to Bangalore, Youngjohns said: There is good scope for this. Professionals at Bangalore centre can do it. We must not fall into the trap that only the bottom end of the future R&D is appropriate to be taken offshore."
He said India is at number three in terms of sales investment after China and US globally.
