On his maiden visit to India, Nikki Haley, Indian-origin governor of South Carolina, US, on Friday invited industries from Chandigarh and Punjab to build business ties with their counterparts in South Carolina.

"Since the dollar is weak, they (companies) have realised this is the right time to invest in the US." Haley said at an interaction event organised by Confederation of Indian Industry.

This is South Carolina's first trade and investment mission to India. Haley and her delegation are scheduled to have 90 meetings in New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai, among other cities. Haley said, “Come, invest and set up a business in South Carolina and we at the government level will extend all support. To encourage investments, we have reduced taxes, eliminated regulations and made government more business-friendly.”

“Come, invest and set up a business in South Carolina and we at the government level will extend all support. We will assign a project manager also who will handhold you right from the beginning concerning all aspects such as land, labour, financing, source of raw material, marketing, legal formalities and transportation facilities."

She also said, "To encourage investments, we have reduced taxes, eliminated regulations and made government more business-friendly."

She said, "Key sectors where the Industry can excel in South Carolina include Automobile, Aerospace, IT, Pharmaceuticals, rubber and textiles. Boeing's leading manufacturing plant is in our state and soon BMW's South Carolina Plant would also be set up. It is so easy to do business in South Carolina that 60 per cent of new investments in South Carolina are from the existing businesses in the form of expansion."

Later on addressing the media persons in Chandigarh, she said there were many companies in India who want to grow and expand and similarly lot of companies based in South Carolina wish to expand in India, so there is win-win situation for both of them.
