Last updated on: August 21, 2009

Home Minister P Chidambaram said on Thursday that Indian government has raised the Minimum Support Price or MSP, the rate at which state-run agencies buy food grains, for paddy and pulses by 100 rupees per quintal to support drought-hit farmers.

He also assured further steps to mitigate farmers suffering after making a full assessment of the poor monsoon rains.
