Singapore is keen on a public-private partnership with India in infrastructure development, especially in real estate and construction sectors, according to a member of a high-level business delegation visiting Chennai.

Urban infrastructure development, real-estate development and construction industry in India hold good potential for joint collaboration between Indian and Singapore companies, Chionh Chye Khye, CEO of Building and Construction Authority, Singapore, said at a meeting organised by Confederation of Indian Industry in Chennai on Friday.

These can be developed on a public-private partnership, said Khye, a member of the 25-member high-level business delegation from Singapore, which began a two-day visit to the city on Thursday.

He said in Chennai there was tremendous scope for providing infrastructure facilities for IT and business process outsourcing companies.

Highlighting the efforts by CII to promote investments in infrastructure, J P Nayak, chairman, infrastructure sub-committee of CII Southern Region, said CII was organising three conferences for the purpose.

A two-day conference on infrastructure would be held in Hyderabad on July 28 and 29, this year. An exhibition on construction industry (Excon-2005) would be held by the end of November in Bangalore, he said.

The third event on real estate would be held in Chennai on September 2 and 3, 2005, Nayak said.
