SIA in interline talks with Kingfisher Air

Singapore Airlines is in talks for an interline agreement with the Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines.

This move is aimed at offering international traveller of Singapore Airlines more routes on Kingfisher's domestic network. At present, Singapore Airlines has a similar arrangement with Indian Airlines.

Singapore Airlines General Manager (India) B K Ong said, "Our passengers could be filled in Kingfisher at the destination where we are not operating. We are looking for special domestic fare from Kingfisher," Ong said.

Singapore Airlines operates 47 weekly flights to eight destinations in India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Amritsar. Kingfisher operates 86 flights a day covering 18 cities.

Singapore Airlines is keen on starting flights from more secondary cities of the country. "We want to increase flight frequency from Delhi and Chennai, if the government relaxes the conditions for flying," Ong said.

Meanwhile, the airline has appointed Indian chef celebrity Sanjeev Kapoor as a member of Singapore Airlines' International Culinary Panel to offer new Indian in-flight traditional cuisine.
