Sensex gains 306 points to 13,487

The markets have continued the rally for the second day and it ended near the highest point of the day on the back of heavy buying seen in scrips far across sectors.

The banking stocks were back in style leading the uptrend followed by IT, capital goods and oil & gas.

The markets have regained almost half of their losses that they made during the three day downtrend. Midcaps and small caps also participated in the uptrend.

The Sensex closed up 305.82 points or 2.32% at 13487.16, and the Nifty up 77.85 points or 2.07% at 3843.05.

About 2013 shares have advanced, 474 shares declined, and 59 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 6,594.52 up 201 points or 3.14%.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,616.97 up 139.61 points or 2.6%.

The BSE Bankex was up 2.6% at 6,899.32.   Bank of India, Centurion BoP,  ICICI Bank, Vijaya Bank, IOB, Andhra Bank moved upwards.

The BSE IT Index gained 2.7% at 5,127.59.  HCL Tech, Mphasis BFL, Moser Baer, Satyam, Hexaware Tech advanced.

The BSE Metal Index was up 1% to close at 8,468.78.  JSW Steel, Mah Seamless, NALCO, Guj NRE Coke, Hindalco ended higher.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 2.4% at 9,163.77. KEC Infrastruct,  Lakshmi Machine, Ingersoll Rand , HEG, Carborundum closed higher.

The BSE Health Care Index closed was up 2.2% at 3,676.68. Sterling Bio, Apollo Hospital, Cadila Health, Divis Labs, Cipla, Pfizer closed higher.

The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,220.63 up 1.4%.  Bharat Forge, Asahi India, MRF, Escorts, Sundaram-Clayto, Ashok Leyland moved higher.

The BSE Oil and Gas Index gained 2% to close at 5,981.57.  MRPL, Chennai Petro, Reliance Natura, IOC, HPCL ended in green.

The BSE FMCG Index was up 2.5% at 1,953.88.  Nirma, Britannia, HLL, United Spirits ended up.

Index heavyweight Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 228.00 up 3.92% from its previous close of Rs 219.40.

Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,264.10 up 2.1% from its previous close of Rs 1,238.10.

Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 2,200.00 up 2.3% from its previous close of Rs 2,150.50.

Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 177.20 up 2.25% from its previous close of Rs 173.30.

Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 278.00 up 2% from its previous close of Rs 272.55.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 8075.82 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 29356.45 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4397.03 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 41829.3 crore.
