Sensex up 27 points at 13,426

The market had a fairly volatile session, after opening strong it slipped on account of some profit booking at the higher levels. IT stocks were providing support at the lower levels and helped the markets close in green.

The Sensex closed up 26.50 points or 0.20% at 13,425.5, and the Nifty was up 7.15 points or 0.19% at 3865.9.

About 906 shares have advanced, 1597 shares declined, and 67 shares are unchanged.

TCS, ICICI Bank, Infosys and Satyam were the top gainers on the Sensex.

NTPC, HLL, Hindalco and Maruti Udyog were the top losers on the Sensex.

The BSE IT Index surged 1.87% or 91.45 points at 4,985.99. TCS, Hexaware Tech, Mphasis BFL, Infosys and Satyam witness buying interest.

The BSE Bankex was up 1.03% or 70.16 points at 6,864.02. UTI Bank, Kotak Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Allahabad Bank, HDFC Bank, Centurion BoP closed up.

The BSE Health Care Index was up 0.40% or 15.07 points at 3,800.72. Divis Labs, Glenmark, FDC and Wockhardt flared up.

However, the BSE Midcap Index was down -0.76% or 42.99 points at 5,600.40. The BSE Small Cap Index slipped 0.91 or 59.68 points at 6,523.28.

The BSE Auto Index was down 0.86% or 46.39 points at 5,321.02. TVS Motor, Cummins, Ashok Leyland,  Asahi India, M&M fell.

The BSE Capital Goods Index closed in red 0.65% or 58.21 points at 8,834.03. Greaves Cotton, Gammon India, BEML, Aban Offshore and Alfa Laval ended down.

The BSE FMCG Index was down 1.24% or 25.81 points at 2,073.52. United Spirits, Colgate,  Nestle, HLL, P&G tumbled.

The BSE Metal Index was down 1.32% or 119.64 points at 8,978.43. Hind Zinc, JindalStainless, SAIL, Mah Seamless,Hindalco meltdown.

The BSE Oil and Gas Index closed flat 0.07% or 4.58 points at 6,267.66. Petronet LNG, Reliance Natura and Reliance closed in negative.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 8060.59 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 25237.41 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 5132.78 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 38430.78 crore.

Markets Today

Sensex @ 1402 hrs

The markets have slipped and are trading flat on account of some profit booking seen at the higher levels. At 14.02 pm IST, the Sensex is up 4.75 points or 0.04% at 13403.75, and the Nifty up 0.35 points or 0.01% at 3859.1.

About 912 shares have advanced, 1524 shares declined, and 78 shares are unchanged.

Top gainers on the Sensex are Infosys up 2.53%, TCS up 2.46%, Ranbaxy Labs up 1.85%.

Top losers on the Sensex are Hindalco down 2.03%, HLL down 1.84% and NTPC down 1.78%.

Top losers on the Nifty are VSNL down 2.27% and M&M down 2.08%

Most active shares on BSE are TCS, Glenmark and Hind Zinc.

Index heavyweight Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 248.00 down 1.84% from its previous close of Rs 252.65.

Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,279.85 down 0.54% from its previous close of Rs 1,286.80.

Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 2,215.50 up 2.53% from its previous close of Rs 2,160.90.

Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 185.00 down 0.35% from its previous close of Rs 185.65.

Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 302.40 up 1.05% from its previous close of Rs 299.25.

 

Sensex @ 1252 hrs:

The markets are trading in positive terrain as technology biggies like TCS, Infosys and Satyam moved up. At 12.52 pm IST, the Sensex is up 53.38 points or 0.40% at 13452.38, and the Nifty up 13.10 points or 0.34% at 3871.85.

About 949 shares have advanced, 1422 shares declined, and 78 shares are unchanged.

The BSE IT index was up 2.25% at 5,004.68.

The top gainers on the indices are Infosys at Rs 2,219.90 (2.73%), TCS at Rs 1,102.00 (2.55%), Satyam Rs 432.00 1.50% and Sun Pharma at Rs 969.00 (2.34%).

TCS, Hind Zinc and Infosys are the most active shares on BSE  .

The top percentage gainers on the BSE are Splash Media at Rs 101.00 (19.74%), Atul at Rs 140.95 (17.41%) and Jenburkt Pharma at Rs 45.15 (16.82%)

Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 2,219.90 up 2.73% from its previous close of Rs 2,160.90.

Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 186.05 up 0.22% from its previous close of Rs 185.65.

Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 302.20 up 0.99% from its previous close of Rs 299.25.

However, The top losers on the indices are HLL, NTPC, Hindalco, M&M and VSNL.

Index heavyweight Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 246.65 down 2.37% from its previous close of Rs 252.65.

Sensex @ 1154 hrs:

The markets are still in green but are off the day's high. Providing support to the markets are IT stocks followed by select bank and pharma. At 11.54 am IST, the Sensex is up 37.81 points or 0.28% at 13436.81, and the Nifty up 3.95 points or 0.10% at 3862.7.

About 910 shares have advanced, 1368 shares declined, and 82 shares are unchanged.

Top gainers on the indices are Sun Pharma up  2.66%, Infosys up 2.23%, TCS up 2.00% and ICICI Bank up 1.72%.

Top losers on the Sensex are HLL down 2.28%, NTPC down 2.14% and Hindalco down 1.73%.

Top losers on the Nifty are VSNL down 2.02% and Zee down 1.97%.

Index heavyweight Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 247.10 down 2.2% from its previous close of Rs 252.65.

Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,278.60 down 0.64% from its previous close of Rs 1,286.80.

Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 2,214.00 up 2.46% from its previous close of Rs 2,160.90.

Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 186.00 up 0.19% from its previous close of Rs 185.65.

Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 301.55 up 0.77% from its previous close of Rs 299.25.

Sensex @ 1055 hrs:

The markets continue to trade in green as technology stocks gained. At 10.55 am, the Sensex is up 43.27 points or 0.32% at 13442.27, and the Nifty up 13.35 points or 0.35% at 3872.1.

About 1103 shares have advanced, 939 shares declined, and 73 shares are unchanged.

The BSE IT index has out performed the other sectoral indices; it was up 1.78% at 4,981.71.

The top gainers on the indices are TCS at Rs 1,100.00 (2.37%), Infosys at Rs 2,204.00 (1.99%), Satyam at Rs 433.20 (1.79%) and Jet Airways at Rs 641.15 (2.18%).

The most active shares on BSE are TCS at Rs 1,100.00 (volumes 86,59,064), Hind Zinc at Rs 875.50 (volumes 3,95,655) and Indiabulls at Rs 534.00 (volumes 5,32,189).

Splash Media at Rs 101.00 (19.74%), Cosco India at Rs 30.60 (17.69%) and Allianz Capital at Rs 32.00 (12.87%) are the top percentage gainers on the BSE.

Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,288.35 up 0.12% from its previous close of Rs 1,286.80.

Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 303.95 up 1.57% from its previous close of Rs 299.25.

However, HLL, Hindalco, NTPC, Zee and VSNL are the top losers on the indices.

Sensex @ 0958 hrs:

The markets continued the uptrend and opened in positive terrain boosted by strong Asian markets. At 9:58 am, the Sensex was trading at 13475 up 76 points and the Nifty was trading at 3880 up 21 points.

TCS, Infosys, Heo Honda, ICICI, Zee, Rel Comm, Dr Reddy's, NTPC, Jet Airways, Bharti, Satyam, SAIL, ACC were among the gainers.

Apart from technology, telecom and pharma even FMCG stocks have opened in the green.

Asian stocks were higher early Tuesday, Japan's Nikkei gained 1.69%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 0.40% , Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted surged 0.85%, Singapore's Straits Times advanced 0.51% and South Korea's Seoul Composite was up 0.58%.

Wall Street extended November rally into new week; Dow was up 23 points.
