Sensex gains 86 points to 10,695

The markets closed in green, they were choppy and were moving within a tight range throughout the day.

The BSE Sensex finally closed at 10,695.26 up 86 points.

The Nifty closed at 3150.95 up 22.75 points.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 5,362.53, up 5 points.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 4,394.79, up 14 points.

The market breadth was mixed, about 1164 shares advanced, 1140 shares declined, and 77 shares remained unchanged.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 5055.19 crore (Rs 50.55 billion) and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 16281.05 crore (Rs 162.81 billion). The BSE cash turnover was at Rs 2395.26 crore (Rs 23.95 billion). Total market wide turnover was at Rs 23731.5 crore (Rs 237.31 billion).

The BSE Metal Index advanced by 0.89% at 8,529.95. JindalStainless, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Nalco, and Sterlite Ind witnessed heavy buying interest.

The BSE Consumer Durables Index gained 0.71% at 2,756.82. Titan Industries, Blue Star, Whirlpool, Su-Raj Diamonds and BPL moved up.

The BSE FMCG Index was up 1.58% at 1,980.57. Colgate, P&G, HLL and Nestle closed in green.

The BSE Oil and Gas Index rose 0.84% at 5,338.08. ONGC, Chennai Petro, IOC and Reliance advanced higher.

The BSE IT Index was up by 1.53% at 3,800.68. TCS, Infosys, HCL Tech, Moser Baer and Satyam moved up.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 0.41% at 7,056.90.

The BSE Bankex was up 0.24% at 4,359.28.

The Auto index closed at 4,735.48, down 0.4%.

Sensex @ 1415 hrs

The markets have inched northwards on the back of buying in select index pivotals.

At 2:15 pm, the Sensex was trading at 10,701 up 91 points and the Nifty was trading at 3,149 up 21 points.

About 1056 shares have advanced, 1118 shares declined, and 77 shares are unchanged.

The BSE sectoral indices are trading mixed. FMCG and IT stocks are witnessing buying.

The major gainers on the indices were HLL up 3.88%, TCS up 2.21%, Infosys up 1.66% and ITC up 1.59%.

Among the major laggards were Wipro down 2.68%, HDFC Bank down 2.29%, Grasim down 1.59% and Tata Motors down 0.98%.

Sensex @ 1241 hrs

The markets are witnessing choppy trades. At 12.41 pm, the Sensex was up 14.44 points or 0.14% at 10,623.69, and the Nifty was up 1.85 points or 0.06% at 3130.05.

About 1037 shares have advanced, 1019 shares declined, and 76 shares are unchanged.  HLL, TCS, Hindalco, Infosys, Oriental Bank and Nalco were top gainers on the indices.

Reliance Comm, ONGC, Grasim, HDFC Bank and Sun Pharma were top loser on the indices.

The BSE FMCG index has outperformed the other indices. It was up by 1.16% at 1972.44 amid buying are seen in P & G, Colgate, HLL and ITC.

Buying is also seen in auto, bank, consumer durable, technology, metal and oil & gas stocks.

However, capital goods and pharma stocks witnessing selling pressure.
Index heavyweight Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 234.75, up 2.47% from its previous close of Rs 229.10.

Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 184.15, up 1.04% from its previous close of Rs 182.25.

Reliance Communications was quoting at Rs 240.80, down Rs 8.15, or 3.27%.

Sensex @ 1208 hrs

The markets has been rangebound with selective buying in index pivotals. At 12:08 pm, the Sensex was trading at 10,641.47 up 32 points and the Nifty was trading flat at 3130.

About 1105 shares have advanced, 821 shares declined, and 68 shares are unchanged.
The major gainers on the indices were TCS, HLL, Hindalco, Infosys, Nalco and HPCL.
Among the major laggards were Reliance Comm, HDFC, Bharti Airtel, Grasim, Sun Pharma, Zee and Siemens.

Sensex @ 1057 hrs:

The markets are trading flat in line with most of its Asian peers. At 10:57 am, the Sensex was trading at 10629 up 19 points and the Nifty was trading at trading flat at 3130.

About 859 shares have advanced, 671 shares declined, and 53 shares are unchanged.

The BSE sectoral indices are trading mixed. IT and metal stocks are witnessing some buying.

The major losers on the indices were Reliance Comm, HDFC, Bharti Airtel, Grasim, Sun Pharma, Zee and Siemens.
The major gainers on the indices were TCS, Hindalco, Satyam, Infosys and Nalco.

Sensex @ 0959 hrs:

The markets have opened on positive note but are witnessing volatile trade in the morning session. At 9:59 am, the Sensex was up 75 points at 10684 but failed to hold that upside. It became volatile. The Nifty was up 1.70 points at 3129.

Maruti, Ashok Leyland, ICICI Bank, Hindalco, TCS, Wipro, Ranbaxy, SBI, Hero Honda, TVS Motors, Bajaj Auto, ITC, ACC and Tata Steel were trading up.

However, selling was seen in VSNL, Suzlon, HDFC, Zee, OBC, Sun Pharma, HDFC Bank, Gujarat Amb Cements and ONGC.
