The National Association of Software and Service companies has appointed S Ramadorai, chief executive officer, Tata Consultancy Services as the chairman of Nasscom for the year 2005-06.
B Ramalinga Raju, chairman, Satyam Computer Services has been appointed vice-chairman, Nasscom for the current year.
"We are delighted to have Ramadorai as the chairman of Nasscom. He has played an important role, both as a member and vice-chairman of Nasscom's executive council," Kiran Karnik, president, Nasscom said.
"Ramadorai, apart from being the CEO of India's largest IT company, is a respected veteran of the industry, and will bring enormous sagacity and maturity to Nasscom. We are also extremely pleased to have B. Ramalinga Raju as vice chairman, " he added.
Lauding the efforts of the present chairman, Karnik said, "Jerry Rao has done a great job of steering Nasscom, and the Indian software and services industry in 2004-05. He initiated a number of activities and will continue to head the Nasscom Security Forum."
Under Rao's leadership, Nasscom launched the 'Trusted Sourcing' initiative, which helped in creating awareness about the robust security practices being followed by Indian ITS/BPO companies, Karnik said.
His global experience, knowledge and dynamism have been of immense value to Nasscom, Karnik added.
