Sahara Infrastructure and Housing Ltd, the real-estate company of Sahara India Parivar, has set up its quality-control laboratory for its flagship project Sahara City Homes.
The laboratory is equipped with latest equipment and state-of-the-art gadgets.
SIHL has invested about Rs 25 lakhs (Rs 2.5 million) in establishing the present facility at its Lucknow township. The Lucknow laboratory has impact-testing machines, and is also equipped to test compression factor, stone and sand aggregate value, crushing value, and moisture content.
"We not only look after the quality checking at our quality control laboratories but also devote maximum attention about its proper implementation. All equipment at our laboratories are as per the Indian Standard Codes," Asad Ahmad, chief general manager worker, SIHL, told Business Standard.
The company proposes to control, monitor and adhere to quality at every step of the way by quality checks in all the stages of the constructions, including building materials like cement, steel, wood and bricks.
"Quality-control laboratories are just another tool for strict adherence to schedule, budget and workmanship," said Suryavir Singh, spokesperson, SIHL.
Similar quality-control laboratories will be integral part of all Sahara City Homes sites. The company has already set up laboratories at Nagpur, Indore, Gwalior, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad and Solapur sites.
Spread over 200 acres, Sahara City Homes, Lucknow, is one of the biggest real-estate projects of the city with 5,255 residential units.
The estimated worth of Lucknow township is Rs 2,000 crore (Rs 20 billion). Its construction is in full swing and the possession of property will begin towards the end of 2009. A total of 30 blocks housing 1620 residential units are under construction.
