Reliance Industries has entered into a strategic alliance with Bongaigaon Refinery & Petrochemicals to provide technical and manufacturing support for achieving full capacity utilisation at the latter's facilities in Assam.

The alliance will help BRPL, a subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation, to turn around its petrochemical business which has been closed for the last two years, while Reliance will get to market the entire petrochemical output of BRPL.

The polyester users in the remote north eastern part of the country will benefit from this alliance, according to a RIL media release.

The pact covers the facilities of BRPL site at Dhaligaon, Assam consisting 34,200 tonne per annum of PSF capacity together with 45,000 tonne per annum of dimethyl terephthalate capacity.
