Reliance Info launches intl roaming

Private telecom company Reliance Infocomm has launched international roaming facility through tie-ups with global operators including China Unicon and Sprint PCS of the US.

The company has also entered into agreements with Pelephone Cellular Communications (Israel), Mobile-8 (Indonesia) and Telecom Mobile Ltd (New Zealand), RIC said in a release in Mumbai on Thursday.

It is also in talks with 12 operators in 11 countries including Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Canada and the US (in addition to Sprint) accounting for 90 per cent of the global CDMA footprint, the release said.

Inder Bajaj head (RIC postpaid business) said: "With these tie-ups, postpaid subscribers of Reliance IndiaMobile would be able to remain connected with their homes and rest of the world while roaming in these countries."

Subscribers from these countries would get similar service while visiting India, he said.
