ADAG greenfield venture debuts finally

The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group finally flagged off its first greenfield venture after the split between the two Ambani brothers.

The one million square foot Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Centre is spread over 19 floors and, with 750 in-patient beds, is one of the largest in Mumbai, after the Bombay Hospital.

The hospital boasts of machines offering latest technology, rooms double the size of those offered in other parts of the country, and so on.

The catch, however, is that the first greenfield venture was not conceived by Anil Ambani, but was the brainchild of wife Tina.

As part of the planning process, Tina Ambani travelled to China to see hospitals there, the reason being Chinese hospitals face the same kind of crush Indian hospitals do.

Anil's own first Greenfield venture, Rosa power plant in Shahjahanpur, will come on stream in December.
