Rallis India managing director Rajiv Dubey has resigned citing personal reasons.

This was stated by a Tata Group source, who added that the company's board was yet to accept the resignation.  When contacted, Dubey said, "I cannot comment on the issue at this stage."

Dubey was earlier the managing director of Tata Metaliks. He was brought into Rallis as the chief executive officer in late 2000, replacing the late Darbari Seth's protégé Vijay Rai.

He was one of the youngest heads of a major Tata firm. He came into Rallis when the company was reeling under heavy losses, and initiated a few restructuring measures, which included rationalising operations, financial restructuring, selling real-estate properties and unloading non-core businesses.

Dubey had appointed as many as four management consultants to help him revivify the company.  He was made the company's managing director last year.

During his tenure, Rallis discontinued its fertiliser marketing pact with Tata Chemicals.
