Last updated on: July 03, 2008 16:37 IST

With the launch of Pune-Frankfurt non-stop flight by Lufthansa on Wednesday, Pune, which has a growing number of Indo-German business ventures, is now directly connected with Europe.

The six-day-a-week flight will be operated by a 48-seat capacity business jet and cover the distance of 6,673 km.

A Lufthansa spokesman said Pune is the eighth largest city in India with expanding IT, auto and biotechnology sectors and the airlines considered it a profitable route.

A-319 Airbus will be used to operate the flight.
