Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will arrive in Mumbai on Tuesday to inaugurate the Swadeshi Mela-2003 at the sprawling Somaiya Trust grounds.

Vajpayee who is to reach Mumbai by a special aircraft from Ahmedabad, is slated to inaugurate the mela at 1815 hrs. He would return to New Delhi the same evening, official sources said on Monday.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the Prime Minister's visit and the venue has been spruced up for the occasion, the sources added.

Swadeshi entrepreneurs are participating in the week-long mela with 'Boundless Bharat' as the theme. The mela is organised by the Centre for Bharatiya Marketing Development, a unit of Swadeshi Jagran Foundation.

The mela is being held at the 15 acre-Somaiya Trust Ground in north-east Mumbai.

Nearly 600 stalls are to be put up at the venue and about 10 lakh (1 million) visitors are expected.

Seminars titled "WTO and Patents - Impact on India", "Creating Made in India Brand",  "Emerging Opportunities in IT", "Converting Mumbai into a model city" and "Future of Indian Banking" would be held during the week-long mela.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sushma Swaraj would attend the “Mahila Sammelan" at the mela site on February 1, the sources added.
