The Maruti Vitara Brezza is a perfect embodiment of being the right product in the right place at the right time.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza dropped like a nuke in the fastest growing compact SUV segment in the country and created ripples which had a profound effect on the market.

Therefore, in order to understand the true makings of a blockbuster product, MotorBeam.com decided to review the baby Vitara SUV.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is a perfect embodiment of being the right product in the right place at the right time.

In a typical Maruti fashion, the vehicle is priced just right and with just the right kind of styling and dimensions for the average Indian consumer.

The car is thus a very important product for Maruti as well as the Indian market as it has been engineered and developed entirely by the Maruti team in India thereby achieving high localisation levels.

The styling of the Brezza is what most people will call 'mature' and 'classy'.

The Vitara sports the latest Maruti design language where the front grille gets a thick chrome slat connecting the two projector headlamps that integrate daytime running lights on the edges. Faux skid-plates at the front and rear and big wheel arches complete the obligatory SUV look.

Interestingly, Maruti has employed a European-style dual tone colouring scheme for the roof and D-pillar with some handsome looking colour combinations on offer.

The simple and functional design scheme continues on the inside of the vehicle.

The dashboard is all black but gets silver elements in the middle.

What impresses the most is how easy the ingress and egress to the vehicle is - almost rivalling of say, a Wagon R.

Overall quality of the cabin is good but one can find the customary shared components from lower Marutis (window controls, steering stalks, etc.).

The seats are quite supportive and well padded for long trips.

There is a good sense of space at the rear too and you won’t feel the need for rear AC vents.

The Brezza offers boot space of a respectable 328-litres and the option of rear seat which folds flat down.

The car is loaded with enough gadgets and glitzy lights to satisfy your inner 12-year old child.

There is a nice big instrument cluster in which you can change the colour of the outline of the speedo and tacho meters.

The Vitara Brezza comes equipped with a touch-screen infotainment system which offers Apple CarPlay connectivity along with navigation.

The baby Vitara is currently powered by the national engine of India i.e the 1.3-litre MultiJet Ddesel, which produces 90 BHP of power at 4000 RPM.

The progress is smooth from the start with a strong mid-range coming up soon. NVH levels are well controlled but there is wind noise from the A-pillars at high speeds.

The gearbox is typical Maruti with buttery smooth action and a light clutch. Maruti claims best in class 24.3 km/l of fuel efficiency.

The car offers neutral handling characteristics but it is definitely not as fun to drive as its rival, the Ford EcoSport.

The handling is very predictable as the vehicle follows your steering inputs quickly.

The electric steering is bit numb in the centre but light at slow speeds and weighs up enough for highway cruising.

Both low speed and high speed undulations are taken care of very well by the suspension setup.

Braking is very effective too, we stood on the brakes and it came to a halt without any drama.

Maruti is offering driver side airbags as standard on lower trims while the ZDi trim is loaded with dual airbags and ABS as standard.

The after sales service of Maruti Suzuki as we all know is the best and since the Brezza is heavily localised and sharing parts with its siblings, the maintenance cost should also be light on your pocket.

All this makes this vehicle from Maruti another hot product in the Indian market.
