Spotted: New Tata Nano AMT

March 17, 2015 18:08 IST

The Tata Nano AMT will be launched in the coming few months. This will be the company’s model year variant for 2015.

The Nano will get some upgrades on this year’s model year. To begin with, it will have a boot that can open, the top-model will be offered with an option of AMT (automated manual transmission) as well.

This transmission is made by Magneti Mirelli, the same company that makes AMTs for Maruti Suzukis, other Tata products and very soon even for Hyundai.

One downside of the Nano has been that its boot cannot be opened and now this has been taken care by Tata Motors as it will be launched on this car.

The Nano is only available with electronic power steering and the regular variants are discontinued. There are two variants, XE and XT. The Nano AMT will cost about Rs 30,000 more than the currently sold Nano, so expect the on road New Delhi price to be about Rs 2.5 lakh.

This Nano was spotted on test by a Team-bhp reader.

The concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo had a larger fuel tank of 24 litres and even the interiors were decked with some wooden trims on it.

The Tata Nano AMT will made available only on the top variant and will called as XTA, as shown in the images.

The Nano AMT and the Nano Active will added to the MY15 Nano.

Also, the other changes on the Nano will be the new front and rear bumpers, with the smiley look. The headlamps are likely to be smoked as well.
