Phone tapping: No complaint from Radia's staff

December 17, 2010 17:01 IST
Niira Radia-promoted Vaishnavi Corporate Communications on Friday said none of its present or past employees has given any complaint to the government that became the basis for the I-T department to tap Radia's phones.

Terming as "forged" a letter that was purportedly written in 2007 by a former employee of Vaishnavi, Rashmi Naik, a spokesperson of Vaishnavi said, "To the best of our knowledge we do not believe that any existing or former employee has or had complained to government or any investigating agencies on our operations or our chairperson."

Exuding confidence that due investigations and judiciary process will be followed and identity of the persons behind this malicious campaign will be revealed, a statement from Vaishnavi said that the company had confirmed with Naik that she was not the author of the letter that has resurfaced now.

"We would like to reiterate that letter is forged in nature and carries baseless and malicious content," the statement said.

The Central Bureau of Direct Taxes in its affidavit in the Supreme Court had said the finance ministry had received a complaint against Radia in 2007 which became the basis for ordering tapping of Radia's phones.
