Parryware, the sanitaryware major, on Monday announced its foray into the country's Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion) taps market, starting with Tamil Nadu.

Parryware hopes to garner about 10 per cent of the taps business over the next three years by capitilising on its 40 per cent market share in sanitaryware, G Ramprasad, chief executive officer of the company, said at a press conference in Chennai after unveiling four ranges of taps and fittings.

Parryware, a division of the Rs 600 crore (Rs 6 billlion) EID Parry Ltd, which has been meeting the evolving customer needs of hygienic bathrooms, would be targeting the middle and upper segments of the market, he said.

In the first phase, Parryware would focus on the four southern states before moving on to other parts of the country, he said, claiming that the company was sure to make its presence felt in the taps market, which is currently dominated by Jaguar.

Ramprasad said the launch of taps and fittings would complement sanitaryware and enable the company move a step closer to offering 'complete bathroom solutions.'

The chromium taps and fittings, which came with a 10 year warranty against manufacturing defects, offered excellent customer relevant benefits like foam flow, anti-slip knobs, high quality finish, latest designs and were easy to operate, he said.
