ONGC amongst world's most admired firms

December 18, 2007 19:35 IST

Global consulting firm Hay Group and Fortune Global Survey 2007 have adjudged state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation as one of the World's Most Admired Companies.

The country's biggest oil explorer ONGC has the distinction of being the only Indian corporate to qualify on this list.

Hay Group (India) managing director Srini Srinivasan felicitated ONGC chairman and managing director R S Sharma at a function in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Hay Group and Fortune Annual Survey determines the industry groupings by using the Fortune Global 500 listing for the WMAC ranking.

Companies are required to have at least $12 billion revenue to be eligible for this list.

''Hay Group and Fortune Annual Survey studies the corporates' reputation across various factors, maps the performance of the companies on both quantitative and qualitative aspects and finally rate the companies,'' Srinivasan said.

The key differentiating factor in our research this year was to study the role that board of directors play in effective human capital management, he added.

The research divided the survey of 3,322 executives, directors, and analysts into two groups: those that ranked among the top three in their industry and the rest.

Hay Group has surveyed executives at more than 150 of these companies around the world, he said.
