In a major outsourcing deal, Nokia has bagged an order to manage Hutch-Essar's mobile network in nine circles for five years, for which it would take on board 600 employees from its client.
"Nokia has reached a five-year managed services agreement to run Hutchison Essar's network operations in nine circles in Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and West Bengal," Nokia said in a statement in New Delhi.
The deal would allow the operator to better focus on its customers and core activities.
Nokia is the supplier of GSM network equipment to nine of the thirteen circles, making it the largest network vendor for the operator, Nokia said.
Commenting on the agreement, Asim Ghosh, MD, Hutchison Essar said: "Nokia's managed service know-how, plus its proven track record when it comes to operating and enhancing networks worldwide, were key drivers in helping us make this decision."
