NIIT COO P Rajendran said on Tuesday that the IT education sector was set for major growth in the coming months following positive indications from the industry.
"The worst period for software and IT education industry was over as semblance of normalcy could be seen returning to the sector," Rajendran said in Kolkata.
Pointing out that the top eight software companies had shown a 36 per cent growth in the number of new professionals hired during 2002-03, he said the trend was likely to continue as leading IT majors like Wipro, Infosys, GE, Satyam, TCS and NIIT were expanding operations and were on the lookout for trained software manpower.
