With the Indian stock markets clawing back after the Monday meltdown, an investment advisers' survey says that global emerging markets are predicted to be the best performers in the next three years.

According to the Adviser Fund Index panelist survey complied by the Financial Express, a leading data distributor in the UK, over the next three years global emerging markets would be the best performers.

The survey presents predictions of a host investment adviser firms on the future of global equities market.

The survey shows 33.3 per cent of the respondents believe the region would perform the best, while 53.3 per cent of the panelist surveyed predict that North American equity markets would be the worst performer in the period.

On the other hand, against the strong belief for global emerging markets to do well, close to 13.3 per cent of the panelist did not rule out the possibility that the region could be among the worst performers.

Besides, 13.3 per cent of the index, panelist believe Asia Pacific markets excluding Japan would be among the best performers as well, the survey said.

Interesting, North American markets are predicted to be the worst performers in the short term also with 46.7 per cent of the panelist voting in favour of the stance, it said.

"The latest mid-season survey of Adviser Fund Index panelists provides a fascinating insight into the investment strategy and behaviour of the AFI panel," Financial Express head of marketing and communication Paul Waynne said.

The expertise that they lend to the AFI concept is representative of how the majority of funds are researched and recommended to private clients, Waynne added.

The Adviser Fund index is aggregated from the recommended portfolio of a panel of leading UK investment adviser firms.

Based entirely on the funds actually recommended to clients, the AFI Aggressive, AFI Balanced and AFI Cautious indices provide insight in terms of the benefits of holding top quality funds.
