Mico rolls out 10 millionth inline fuel injection pump

Motor Industries Company Limited, a member of the Bosch Group and a leader in diesel fuel injection technology in India, achieved a milestone with the roll out of its 10 millionth inline fuel injection pump on Thursday.

Mico started manufacturing inline pumps in 1956. M Lakshminarayan, joint managing director, Mico, handed over the '10 millionth fuel injection pump' to R Seshasayee, managing director, Ashok Leyland.

"World-class quality, innovation, entrepreneurial leadership and professionalism have made Mico a world-class company. The roll out of the 10 millionth pump today, reinforces the commitment of Mico towards the Indian automotive industry to help achieve greater heights. As always, diesel powered vehicles are becoming more powerful, clean, economical and less noisy," said Hubert Zimmerer, chairman, Mico.

The inline pump has a wide range of applications in transport and agricultural segments. Mico-equipped diesel engines help transportation of millions of passengers and huge volumes of goods in an economical way.

Mico, a member of the Bosch Group, Germany, is the pioneer of automotive Spark Plugs and Diesel Fuel Injection Equipment in India. With about 10,000 employees, Mico is the largest manufacturer of diesel fuel injection equipment in the country and one of the world's largest.

Mico also manufactures industrial equipment, auto-electricals, and hydraulic gear pumps for tractor applications, electric power tools and packaging machines at its Bangalore, Naganathapura, Nashik and Jaipur plants.

It also markets Blaupunkt car multimedia systems and Bosch security systems.

Mico has successfully applied mass production techniques to high-precision manufacturing of this product. Fuel injection equipment, being highly sophisticated calls for rigid standards and very high precision at every stage of manufacture. The components with tolerances of the order of one thousandth of a millimeter have been machined on a mass-production basis.
