March 08, 2013 15:38 IST

Meru cab has launched a new service that will help families track the journey of women travellers.

Called as ‘Trip Tracker Service’, it sents SMS alerts on the taxi’s location. The service is free on charge and available across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

One can avail of this facility while booking a Meru cab, through the call centre (4422 4422) or the website. An option is made available to the customer to provide a “tracking number” to which the SMS’s

alerts will be sent.

This number will be stored in the customer’s personal account and he or she can activate or deactivate it anytime.

On activating the Trip Tracker Service, an SMS is sent at the beginning of the journey that has details of start-time and area where the trip began. Following this, updates of the trip is sent to the mobile every 15 minutes until the woman traveller reaches her destination.
