Max New York Life is the only private Indian insurer to have figured in this year's list of top 100 Million Dollar Round Table companies in the world.
MDRT is an association of leading sales professionals in the life insurance industry and MDRT membership is universally recognised as the standard of excellence in the life insurance business.
Max New York has 45 agent advisors qualifying for MDRT this year. Last year it had 26 MDRTs, the highest among all private life insurers.
Ahmedabad has done particularly well in the MDRT honours list for Max New York Life, with it having as many as ten MDRT agents.
This year, the company has opened an office in Surat and it has used the corporate agency model to extend its operations to Baroda.
This is the second consecutive year that Max New York Life got the top honours in the MDRT list.
"Our MDRT leadership position for the second year running proves that our agents are the best in the business," said Anuroop 'Tony' Singh, chief executive officer and managing director of Max New York Life.
"We are setting industry benchmarks in agent productivity, whether in terms of case rate or persistency," he added.
MNYL's MDRT leadership carries forward New York Life's tradition of producing the best-selling agents in the world.
New York Life has dominated MDRT for 49 consecutive years, with the gap between NYL and its nearest competitor ever widening.
The eligibility criteria for MDRT in India for the 2004 membership are that the agent should have achieved commission over Rs 5,19,200 in calendar year 2003 or collected premium worth Rs 20,76,800 over the same period. This year the MDRT annual meeting was held in June in Las Vegas.
Max New York Life has, till date, sold insurance worth over Rs 7,000 crore (Rs 70 billion).
The company has also expanded its operations to 20 offices across 15 cities. A joint venture between Max India Ltd and New York Life, MNYL offers 11 products and nine riders that can be customised to over 250 combinations.
